| Saving Energy | ||
| Standby power is the electricity consumed when electronic devices are switched off or not performing their primary function. It accounts for an increasing proportion of the world's energy use. In developed countries, standby power represents up to 12% of household electricity consumption. Worldwide, standby power is estimated to account for as much as 1% of global greenhouse emissions.
Our sleek new routers and gateways operate with energy saving power adapters. Linksys by Cisco power adapters meet the latest ENERGY STAR requirements. Look for the ENERGY STAR logo on the packaging and on the product pages of this website. |

Recycled newspaper, cardboard and other post-consumer material can be used for packaging, saving energy and the environment.
We are now shipping nearly 100 products in packaging made from post-consumer materials that use about 38% less paper by weight than the old packaging. We also designed pulp molded trays to replace styrene and corrugate inserts. And, our new packaging and documentation are printed with vegetable-based inks. In addition, our new blister packs are a third smaller and use 50% less plastic than the previous design; use recyclable PET (polyethylen-terephthalat) instead of nonrecyclable PVC (polyvinyl chloride); and are printed with biodegradable inks. |
